چکیده
Due to the difficulty directly study ammonia, present work investigated engine performance of lean iso-octane/air mixture approximate ammonia combustion behaviour. The was conducted using a single cylinder modified diesel that features spark plug and glow in sub-chamber. investigations varied speeds (1000 1500 RPM), voltages (6 10 volts), excess air ratios (1.4 1.8), ignition timings (-2 -5 °BTDC). results suggested improved performances with lower ratio higher voltage due more complete stable combustion. By increasing speed, burn limit extended performances. Because sub-chamber feature, delaying timing A larger found increase sensitivity timing. brake mean effective pressure for all conditions has coefficient variation less than 7%, indicating current setup can be used investigate blended fuel direct future works.

An Experimental Investigation of Spark Ignition Engine Fueled with Ethanol/Iso-octane and Methanol/Iso-octane Fuel Blends
Alcohols have been used as a fuel for engines since 19th century. Among the various alcohols, ethanol and methanol are known as the most suited renewable, bio-based and ecofriendly fuel for spark-ignition (SI) engines. The most attractive properties of ethanol and methanol as an SI engine fuel are that it can be produced from renewable energy sources such as sugar, cane, cassava, many types ...
متن کاملAir-Fuel Ratio Control of a Lean Burn SI Engine Using Fuzzy Self Tuning Method
Reducing the exhaust emissions of an spark ignition engine by means of engine modifications requires consideration of the effects of these modifications on the variations of crankshaft torque and the engine roughness respectively. Only if the roughness does not exceed a certain level the vehicle do not begin to surge. This paper presents a method for controlling the air-fuel ratio for a lean bu...
متن کاملOperating Range Expansion in a HCCI Natural Gas Engine Using Charge and Thermal Stratification in Combustion Chamber
HCCI operating window has two distinct boundaries of knock at higher load region and misfiring/partial burning at lower load region. Moreover, there is no conventional direct way of controlling combustion timing in an HCCI engine. In this research, experimental study were carried out to investigate the effect of thermal and charge stratification on expansion of the operating range of a natural ...
متن کاملFuels With a High Enthalpy of Evaporation in Si Engine
The increasing use of fuels derived from oil, deepens concern about the fact that non-fossil fuels have to be considered as the fuels of the future. Among the alternatives, hydrogen produced from the abundant sources of water, seems to be one of the best, but it suffers drawbacks with regard to combustion, storage and transportation. The other alternatives are ammonia, produced from unlimited s...
متن کاملExperimental investigations on a pre-chamber spark plug with variable heat range by integrating a controlled hot surface
In gasoline engines, pre-chamber spark ignition systems are used to achieve high efficiency and low NOx emissions when operating under lean conditions. While a cold pre-chamber spark plug can lead to misfiring and flame quenching under cold start or part load operation, a hot pre-chamber can result in uncontrolled pre-ignition phenomena under full load operation. This paper presents an approach...
